WHEN: Saturday.

WHERE: Ed Radice Sports Complex, 14720 Ed Radice Drive, Tampa.

RACE TIMES: The meet begins with the Class 4A girls at 8 a.m. followed by the 4A boys at 8:35. The A girls at 9:05 and A boys at 9:40 are next. The last four races will be the Class 2A girls at 10:10, the Class 2A boys at 10:45, the Class 3A girls at 11:15 and 3A boys at 11:50.

COUNTY QUALIFIERS: Boys teams _ Bloomingdale, Leto, Plant, King, Jesuit; Girls teams _ Gaither, Plant, Sickles, Berkeley Prep, Academy of the Holy Names.

INDIVIDUAL QUALIFIERS: Sara Hall (Plant City), Jessica Forrester (Bloomingdale), Jaclyn Johnson (Bloomingdale), Laura Bowerman (King), Jamie Clasen (Tampa Catholic).

DEFENDING CHAMPS: Class 4A _ Spanish River girls, Winter Park boys; Class 3A _ Plant girls, Flagler Palm Coast boys; Class 2A _ Our Lady of Lourdes girls, Gulliver Prep boys; Class A _ Tallahassee Maclay girls, Tallahassee Maclay boys.

MEET NOTES: Play-by-play will be provided over loud speakers by Ricky Quintana, who will be perched atop a 50-foot lift with binoculars. He will have visibility of almost the entire course. This will be the first FHSAA state meet to utilize computer chips attached to runner's shoelaces to keep score. Sue Harmeling, the executive director of the Gasparilla Distance Classic, will be honored in an opening ceremony and act as honorary meet referee. The meet referee will be legendary Largo coach Brent Haley, who led the Packers to 10 state titles and six runner-up finishes. Haley will retire at the end of this school year after 40 years in the school system.
