STATE MEETS

WHEN/WHERE: Saturday, Ed Radice Sports Complex, Tampa.

AT STAKE: Championship and runner-up trophies and medallions are awarded to boys and girls teams in each classification; the top 10 individuals in each race also receive medals.

ADMISSION: $7.

DIRECTIONS: From I-275, exit onto Bearss Avenue and head west until it turns into Erlich Road. Continue west until the road ends at Sickles High. Turn right onto Gunn Highway. At the first light, turn left onto South Mobley. Head west 1.8 miles. Ed Radice Park is on the left. From the Suncoast Parkway, exit at Gunn Highway.

Class 3A

START TIMES: Girls 11:15 a.m., boys 11:50.

BOYS: Mitchell _ Gus Luna, Jeff Masterson, Danny Sheehan, Brandon Steiner, David Stricsek, John Tuccio.

GIRLS: Land O'Lakes _ Dani Shimer.

OUTLOOK: The Flagler Palm Coast boys team is the favorite according to Flrunners.com. The Bulldogs are led by Steven Vasquez, ranked No. 2 in 3A by Flrunners.com. Can No. 2 Mitchellfinally beat Flagler Palm Coast in the teams' third meeting this season? The Mustangs will have to run perfect races. The individual race should be just as good with Masterson taking on the top two runners in 3A, Vasquez and Ocala Vanguard's Steven Hassen, who enters with the best time in 3A (15:20). The girls race is between Lely, Clay, Plant and St. Thomas Aquinas, while King's Laura Bowerman should run away with the individual title. Shimer's goal is to finish in the top 15. She can do it if she cracks the 19 minutes.

Class 2A

START TIMES: Girls 10:10 a.m., boys 10:45.

BOYS: Wesley Chapel _ Kurt Able, David Forry; Zephyrhills _ Jose Espinosa.

GIRLS: Gulf _ Melissa Dattoli, Amber Shuhart, Danielle Florey, Christina Angelillo, Tammy Roddenberg, Margaret Giampavolo, Kamberly Gnadt; Wesley Chapel _ Stephanie Amerman.

OUTLOOK: Bishop Kenny should cruise to the boys title. The individual battle will be between Jesuit's Andy Biladeau and Bishop Kenny's Ryder Leary. Forry enters as the Region 2 champion and has a shot at finishing strong. In the girls race, take your pick: Cocoa Beach, Bishop Kenny, Lourdes, Pennsacola Catholic or Jacksonville Bolles? Defending champion Elynore Kabboord should repeat.
