SWIMMING

WHAT: Class 2A state meet.

WHEN: Saturday. Swimming prelims at 9 a.m., finals at 7 p.m.

OUTLOOK: The lone county participant will be Citrus' Charles Osterhout, who finished fourth in the 100 yard breaststroke at the 2A-4 District meet Saturday but qualified for a wildcard spot. His time of 1:07.9 broke the oldest boys swimming record at the school, 1:07.53, set in 1992. Hurricanes coach Doug Patton said the boys team has qualified at least one participant for state every year. "I've said all season we're not as strong as we have been in the past, although we might have taken a few more if things would have fallen into place," Patton said. "At least we've got somebody going." Osterhout posted the 26th best time in districts among state qualifiers.
