Woman accused of slashing man with knife

Hernando County sheriff's deputies arrested a Spring Hill woman early Wednesday after she attacked a man in the parking lot of a convenience store, according to a sheriff's report.

Shannette Patrice Washington, 36, told deputies that she cut George Mason III, 30, with a pocket utility knife after he hit her with a chunk of concrete. The exchange began, the report states, when Mason blocked Washington's car at the Circle K on Deltona Boulevard and demanded she give him "his stuff."

Washington was charged with aggravated battery and taken to Hernando County Jail, where she was released on $5,000 bail. Mason's injuries were not considered severe.

Brooksville man charged in drugging, rape of girl

BROOKSVILLE _ A 20-year-old Brooksville man is accused of sedating a 14-year-old girl with a painkiller and then raping her in a motel room.

Kenyon Devine Stewart, of 413 Pryor St. in Brooksville, was charged late Monday with sexual battery on a child over 14 years of age, according to a Brooksville police affidavit.

The victim told investigators that the incident occurred at the Oaks Motel in Brooksville early Sunday. The girl awoke and forced her way out of the room. She reported the incident Monday afternoon, giving a sworn videotaped statement, according to Brooksville police.

Detective Eddie McConnell said the girl reported that she and some friends had been picked up by the man at a Hess station in Masaryktown. Somewhere along the way, the man gave the girl the pain reliever Vicodin.

According to documents, Stewart admitted being in the motel room with the girl, but denied giving her any type of drug or having sex with her.
