Clearwater senior Nikki Morzenti's goal this season was to make it to the Class 5A state final four.
That did not happen.
The Tornadoes lost to district rival East Lake in the region final.
But even though Morzenti's season ended on a low note, her prep career finished on a high one.
Morzenti, playing in the Pinellas Volleyball Coaches Association Senior All-Star Match, led the Red squad to a 15-7, 15-13, 12-15, 10-15, 15-10 victory over the Blue squad at East Lake on Thursday.
For her performance, she was named most valuable player.
"Tonight was all about having fun, and it was a great way to end the season," Morzenti said. "I was surprised that I won the award. It just goes to show what a great team I had."
Morzenti and her teammates withstood a furious rally.
Down two games, the Blue team won the next two and cut the score to 7-6 in the deciding fifth game before the Red squad bore down to win.
This was the sixth year of the all-star match, designed to honor senior public and private school players and give them a chance to be showcased in front of college coaches.
"I was real pleased with how things went tonight," said Red team coach Terry Small, who also coaches East Lake.
"It was a long match and that allowed us to get a lot of players out on the court. And there were also a lot of college coaches in the stands."
