The amateur Ambassador Boxing Club of Spring Hill will participate in a multi-team Golden Gloves match this weekend in St. Petersburg in preparation for the March state championships.
Director Cecil Lalas had hoped to bid to bring the championships to Spring Hill for the first time, but said finances and availability of a proper venue prevented it.
The club has regained its financial footing, according to founder/instructor Lalas.
Fund-raising "did very well," Lalas said. "It was exactly what we needed. We had some things coming due on the gym and some things we needed, but now we're standing tall."
