Baffert filly wins Oaks

Composure defeated Elloluv by three-quarters of a length to win the $300,000 Santa Anita Oaks in Arcadia, Calif., giving trainer Bob Baffert a filly possibility for the male-dominated May 3 Kentucky Derby. Ridden by Jerry Bailey, Composure covered 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.34 and paid $2.80, $2.10 and $2.10 as the fifth consecutive odds-on favorite to win the Oaks. Hall of Fame jockey Julie Krone was hurt when she was unseated by Sublet at the start of the fifth race. She complained of a sore back and was taken to the hospital, missing her five remaining mounts.
