CELTICS: Veteran guard Bimbo Coles, who was waived by the Cavaliers last month, signed. Coles, 34 and in his 13th NBA season, was on Cleveland's injured list this season with a bruised left quadriceps and averaged 4.9 points and 2.7 assists in 21 games.

In other news, league vice president Stu Jackson said referee Hue Hollins followed procedure when he allowed Friday night's game between the Celtics and Clippers to continue after police and security determined Mace or pepper spray was released as a prank.

HAWKS: Center Nazr Mohammed will have surgery on a stress fracture in his right foot and miss the rest of the season. Guard DerMarr Johnson may be cleared to practice Wednesday, six months after cracking four vertebrae in his neck in an automobile accident.

MAVERICKS: Forward Popeye Jones was activated and center Evan Eschmeyer was placed on the injured list with a sore right knee.

PACERS: Rookie guard Fred Jones was activated before Saturday night's game against the Blazers.
