'Noles can't capitalize on late surge

Fallon Stokes had 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead Georgia Tech 64-59 over Florida State in the second round of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament.

Alex Stewart hit all six of her free throws in the final 59 seconds for the fifth-seeded Yellow Jackets (20-9). Sonja Mallory added 15 points and nine rebounds. Tasheika Morris led the fourth-seeded Seminoles (16-12) with 15 points. The Seminoles pulled within 62-59 with 20 seconds left, but after every shot they had to foul. Katelyn Vujas' 3-pointer missed before the buzzer.

MIAMI 77, SYRACUSE 64: Senior Meghan Saake matched her season high with 23 points for the seventh-seeded Hurricanes in the first round of the conference tournament at Piscataway, N.J. Miami (17-7) faces host Rutgers (20-6) tonight.


MISSISSIPPI: Coach Ron Aldy was fired after the Rebels (12-16, 1-14) closed the season with 14 straight conference losses and their fourth losing season in six years.
