So you're younger than 18 and think you can't vote? Think again. Your opinions can be heard for Nickelodeon's 16th Annual Kids' Choice Awards. There are the usual categories, such as favorite actor, actress and movie, but kids can also vote for their favorite video game, favorite book and the Xpress top picks: favorite male and female butt-kickers. Kids can vote both on and off air in 20 categories. Surprise awards will be announced during the show and you never know if actor Tom Cruise will show up again. Voting kicks off today online on www.Nick.com. Winners will be announced during a live broadcast from 8 to 9:30 p.m. April 12.
Put on that life jacket!
That's the latest refrain from Carter brothers Nick and Aaron, who will appear briefly at the beginning of a water safety video being produced by the Personal Flotation Device Manufacturers Association with a grant from the Coast Guard.
The video will include a cameo appearance by the Carters _ Backstreet Boy Nick and little brother Aaron (maybe we'll be hearing Aaron's Beach Party next) _ talking to each other about the importance of life jackets on the water. The spot was taped recently in Key West while Nick's Super Vee Class boat raced and won in the Offshore World Powerboat Championship. Nick, 22, and Aaron, 14, lead into a segment featuring water skiing, wakeboarding and tubing.
Look for the video, which targets what the association considers "high-risk boating segments" including anglers, children, canoers and kayakers and other small-boat operators, at boat shows and in boating safety classes.
Next time you snap tight the buckles on your life jacket, know Nick is thinking I Want It That Way.
"I thought it would be cool to have professionals shooting everything."
