The Board of County Commissioners met Tuesday and took the following actions:
Directed the staff to select a lobbyist to represent the county's interests in the state Legislature. Commissioners capped salary for the lobbyist at $20,000 for this legislative session.
Directed staff to hire architects and engineers to design an addition to the county jail that will house between 200 and 250 more inmates. Commissioners also moved forward with studying land in the area on which they might build.
Increased from 9 to 11 the number of members who sit on the Enterprise Zone Development Agency board. The new members are to be residents of the enterprise zone, which offers tax breaks to those living and working in south Brooksville.
