Woman's dog attacked by three pit bullterriers

(ran PC edition)

Pasco County Animal Control is investigating an incident Monday morning in which three wandering pit bullterriers attacked a neighbor's pet.

The dogs came into Myra Thiessen's yard at 4921 Steel Dust Lane about 7 a.m., according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report. Thiessen's toy fox terrier, Gizmo, ran outside and the pit bullterriers began to "tear him to pieces," she said.

Thiessen, 37, sprayed the pit bulls with a water hose twice to force them away from Gizmo, she said. One dog charged after her, she said, but she and Gizmo got inside the house just in time.

"I've never seen dogs this aggressive," she said.

Gizmo, the family's pet for seven years, was taken to a veterinarian but should heal fine, Thiessen said.

Officers determined the dogs belonged to Justice Dunbar at 4847 Billy Direct Lane, and that the dogs escaped through an open chain link fence.

32-year-old man accused

of fondling teenage girl

WESLEY CHAPEL _ A 32-year-old man was arrested Monday night after authorities say he fondled a 14-year-old girl.

Doyle C. Mullins of 1320 Baythorn Drive in Wesley Chapel was giving a massage to the girl March 1, according to Pasco County Sheriff's Office reports. The agency withheld the girl's name due to the nature of the charges.

The girl told deputies that Mullins touched her breasts, both over and underneath her shirt.

When questioned by deputies at his home on Monday, Mullins said he did touch the girl's breasts and knew she was only 14.

He faces a charge of lewd and lascivious conduct. He was released Tuesday morning from the county jail in Land O'Lakes on $10,000 bail.

ZEPHYRHILLS _ The 5-year-old girl who was injured in an accident on Interstate 4 Saturday remained in fair condition Tuesday at Tampa General Hospital.

Elizabeth Carr of 2002 Paul Buchman Highway in Crystal Springs was thrown from a 1994 Ford Explorer that veered off I-4 about 9:50 p.m., according to Florida Highway Patrol reports.

The girl's mother, 35-year-old nurse Cindy Carr, was also thrown from the vehicle and died from her injuries. The accident also injured the girl's father, Dwight Jenkins, 35, who is in good condition at Tampa General.

Elizabeth broke her collarbone and had leg injuries, her grandmother said. She was born with serious heart conditions, but her injuries may delay surgery.
