Market in the Park and Taste of Lutz: round two. In this corner, more than 60 booths of food and merchandise. In the other corner, Florida weather. Rain achieved a knockout in November.
Weather permitting, the event rescheduled for Saturday in front of the community Train Depot should go off without a hitch. Sponsored by the Lutz Civic Association, the sixth annual Market in the Park and Taste of Lutz is a ripe meeting ground for bargain hunters and food samplers.
No shopping trip is complete without lunch. Guests can taste cuisine from Benedetto's Ristorante Italiano, or a cheesy slice of pizza from Sambino's New York Style Pizza. Hot Rod's BBQ & Grill will be on hand with owner Rod Gaudin's popular turkey legs. At the fifth annual Taste of Lutz in 2001 Gaudin sold 400.
"It's my community," Gaudin said of the event. "They're the bread and butter of my business."
Shoppers can seek hidden treasures in the garage sale and flea market booths. Visitors not in the mood for used stuff might like the handmade and new merchandise from area crafters and retailers.
At the Lutz Branch Library next door, Friends of the Lutz Library will sponsor a large sale of used books.
Just south on U.S. 41, the Lutz/Land O'Lakes Woman's Club will present a flea market and yard sale at the Old Lutz School.
The Market in the Park will be held at Lutz-Lake Fern Road and U.S. 41. The market lasts from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Restaurants will sell food from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free for both.
