Thurman making pitch

The Blue Jays' Corey Thurman pitched a scoreless inning in Wednesday's loss to the Tigers in Lakeland and hasn't been scored on in three appearances. Nobody reached base against him in his most recent outing, and the right-hander said: "I don't want to jinx it by saying anything, but I'll knock on wood. I've had some pretty decent outings."

That's all he needs to do. Manager Carlos Tosca said he is thrilled with the way Thurman is throwing the ball.

"He's coming and he's coming quick. He threw another real good slider (Wednesday)," Tosca said. "He's repeating his delivery much more consistently, and the changeup is dynamite."

GAME NOTES: Tanyon Sturtze gave up three runs and six hits in 3 innings. Carlos Delgado went 0-for-4, getting only one ball out of the infield, and his average dropped to .174.
