THE LOWDOWN: The Sabres lost C Curtis Brown (knee) and D Dmitri Kalinin (shoulder) during Wednesday's overtime loss to the Hurricanes. Buffalo is 4-2-2-2 in its past 10 and 4-2-1 in its past seven on the road. The Lightning is 9-2-3 in its past 14 and is 2-2-3 in its past eight on the road. Sabres RW Miroslav Satan has four goals and nine assists in his past nine games. Tampa Bay C Vinny Lecavalier has six goals and 11 assists in his past 14 games. G Nikolai Khabibulin is 8-0-2 in a career-high and team-record 10-game unbeaten streak. Entering Thursday the Sabres had the league's third-worst home power play at 12.3 percent. Buffalo was tied for the league lead with seven short-handed goals allowed at home. It was second with 11 allowed overall. RW Ales Kotalik was tied for the lead among rookies with 18 goals. Lightning C Brad Richards was tied for the lead with 29 power-play assists. This is the fourth and final meeting (Sabres 1-0-2). Tampa Bay trails the series 10-25-5-1 and is winless in nine games (0-6-3). It is 6-12-2 in Buffalo, where it hasn't won since March 1999 (0-6-1).
