The following water use restrictions are in place for Citrus residents:

+ Irrigation is limited to two days per week in the cities of Inverness and Crystal River, one day per week for all other Citrus County residents.

+ Residents in all unincorporated parts of the county still water once a week based on a five-day watering schedule: addresses ending in 0 or 1, Monday; 2 or 3, Tuesday; 4 or 5, Wednesday; 6 or 7, Thursday and 8 or 9, Friday. Watering in these areas is prohibited between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

+ Residents in the city limits of Inverness may water on Tuesday and Saturday if their address is an even number, or Wednesday and Sunday if their address is an odd number. Watering is prohibited between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

In Crystal River, residents may water on both Tuesday and Friday. Watering is prohibited between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

+ People can hand-water their gardens _ not lawns _ any time during the week.

+ New sod and other new plants may be watered daily, during permitted hours, for a certain establishment period. The period is 30 days in unincorporated Citrus County and 60 days for Inverness and Crystal River.

+ Washing vehicles using hoses with shut-off nozzles is allowed any time. Washing walkways and driveways is prohibited.

+ To report violations, call 1-800-423-1476, then press 4.

+ The Southwest Florida Water Management District urges people to limit their water use. Possibilities include taking three-minute showers, installing low-flow fixtures and repairing plumbing leaks. A leaking toilet can waste up to 200 gallons per day.
