Three men were arrested Sunday on charges of robbing an 80-year-old woman of $8,000 worth of jewelry, a $500 check and $40 in cash.
Daniel L. Burton, 21, of St. Petersburg; Christopher W. Andress, 25, of Pinellas Park; and Robert Edwards, 33, of Pinellas Park, each were charged with home invasion robbery.
Andress also was charged with battery of a person 65 years or older and false imprisonment, and Edwards also was charged with false imprisonment and tampering with a witness.
According to a police report, the three men followed the victim home from a shopping plaza. Andress pushed open the front door of the home on Bayshore Drive S and held the woman against her will.
A neighbor heard screams coming from the victim's house and called 911.
Burton, Andress and Edwards are under investigation for similar crimes in other jurisdictions, said Marianne Pasha, spokeswoman for the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
Plant City 1-year-old drowns in family pool
A 1-year-old boy was discovered in the pool at his family's Plant City house Monday and died a short time later after he was flown to Lakeland Regional Hospital, said Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies.
Devrin Marshall was asleep on the couch when last seen by a relative, deputies said. He was discovered in the pool, on Sam Allen Road, at 2:52 p.m. He died about 4 p.m. at the hospital, deputies said.
Motorist killed at N Dale Mabry and U.S. 41
LAND O'LAKES _ A motorist was killed and another injured in an accident Monday night at N Dale Mabry Highway and U.S. 41, authorities said.
The single-vehicle crash happened about 8:37 p.m., said Pasco County Fire Rescue battalion chief Tim Fussell. Few details were available other than the vehicle apparently hit a pole and ended up on nearby train tracks.
