Toddler found in family's pool dies in hospital

A 1-year-old boy was discovered in the pool at his family's Plant City house Monday and died a short time later after being flown to Lakeland Regional Hospital, according to Hillsborough sheriff's deputies.

Devrin Marshall was asleep on the couch when last seen by a relative before being discovered in the pool, on Sam Allen Road, at 2:52 p.m., deputies said.

He was not breathing when found. He died about 4 p.m. at the hospital, deputies said.

"It's just tragic," said sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter.

Air crash survivors continue recovery

TAMPA _ Two Tampa residents continued to recover in a Memphis hospital after a plane crash last week.

Ed Brown was listed in serious condition and Chip Lomel was listed in good condition at Regional Medical Center Monday. Both were passengers in a twin-engine Beechcraft piloted by Tampa neurosurgeon David Cahill.

Cahill was killed in the accident, which occurred as the plane was landing at Memphis International Airport Wednesday morning. Also killed was John Murphy of Pensacola.
