Store clerk attacked in robbery, police say

A clerk at a dollar store was beaten and choked after she was robbed Tuesday morning, and police are searching for her attacker.

Police said the robbery at the Dollar Store and More at 4205 N Florida Ave. was extremely violent.

Sgt. Dale Pricher said the victim noticed a man visit the store three times Tuesday morning. At 9:30 and 9:45 a.m., the man bought snacks and a soda, Pricher said. He stayed in the parking lot until shortly after 10 a.m.

At 11 a.m., the man returned, picked up a bag of candy and handed money to the clerk.

When the clerk opened the cash register, the man jumped over the counter and beat and choked her, police said.

The man took an undetermined amount of cash and other property, took out a pistol and pointed it at the woman. He drove away in a white pickup with an extended cab. Pricher said the truck might have been a Toyota Tacoma.

The 42-year-old victim, Pricher said, is "psychologically traumatized."

The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was treated and released.
