City Planner Doug Currier has given notice that he will leave the city and vacate a post he has held for more than six years.
Currier, 43, said the decision was a family one. His wife will take a job in Columbia, S.C., this summer.
In his job, Currier has overseen zoning and development issues, annexation requests and comprehensive planning issues, including an overview of growth patterns along State Road 52 west of town and U.S. 301 between Zephyrhills and Dade City.
He also worked as staff for the city's Board of Adjustments and the Planning and Redevelopment advisory boards.
His last day is July 25.
Laura Beagles, assistant to the city manager, said it was too early to say what the city's next step would be. She said she would discuss the position soon with City Manager Harold Sample.
