Sgt. Daniel P. Larson, son of Chris and Susan Larson, formerly of Hudson, recently received his Green Beret after successfully completing Phase IV of the Army's Special Forces training at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare School at Fort Bragg, N.C. Larson, 22, enlisted in the Army after serving nearly four years in the Florida Army National Guard in Eustis. He completed airborne training, a prerequisite for Special Forces at Fort Benning, Ga. in May 2002. Daniel is a 1999 graduate of Umatilla High School, Lake County and is the grandson of Edward and Barbara Belcher, Hudson.

SR Fiana E. Guenkel, daughter of Robert and Oonagh Guenkel, Spring Hill, has successfully completed nine weeks of basic training a the Naval Rercuit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill., and is now at Aviation Ordnance School in Pensacola.

Navy Airman Sean M. Varela, son of Evelyn D. Adler of Port Richey, and Raul W. Varela of Hamburg, N.J., recently returned from the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf while assigned to Sea Control Squadron 22. The unit was embarked aboard the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, homeported in Norfolk, Va. Varela is a 2000 graduate of Ridgewood High School of New Port Richey, and joined the Navy in June 2000.

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Jason T. Davis, son of Sandra E. and James Sallazzo of Port Richey, recently returned from the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, homeported in Norfolk, Va. Davis is a 1998 graduate of Hudson High School and joined the Navy in June 1998.
