Bail reduced; arson charge pending

Published Sep. 2, 2005

Circuit Judge Ric A. Howard reduced Bruce Karl Blanford's bail Thursday morning to $7,500 and ordered him put on the county's tracking system if he posts bail. A jury Wednesday found Blanford, 27, not guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery. However, the jury did not reach a verdict for a third charge, arson. The state will retry that charge. Blanford waived his right to a speedy trial Thursday morning, and Howard set a pretrial conference for December. As of 5 p.m. Thursday, Blanford remained in the Citrus County jail.

Girl, 14, says Texas man fondled her

A man wanted on charges of fondling a 14-year-old girl was extradited Wednesday from Texas and arrested in Lecanto. Christopher David Redenbaugh, 39, of Spring, Texas, was charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a person younger than 16. The incident that led to his arrest occurred in July, when a 14-year-old girl staying at a Hernando residence reported that Redenbaugh asked her to remove her shirt and bra, then fondled her while the two were watching a movie. Redenbaugh, a trucker, was staying in his semitrailer truck on the same property. By the time deputies were alerted, Redenbaugh had already left, according to a statement from sheriff's spokeswoman Gail Tierney. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was located at his home in Texas. He is being held at the county jail on $15,000 bail.
