FEDOTENKO STRUGGLING: What does Ruslan Fedotenko have to do to get out of his slump?
"Score a goal," the right wing said.
Easier said than done. Fedotenko has no goals and one assist in his first seven games and just nine shots on goal. He has no points since the opener against the Bruins.
"I had (three) goals in the preseason and I thought it was going so well," he said. "Now it's like the puck is not there."
Coach John Tortorella is not ready to push the panic button because Fedotenko, at plus-2, has done well defensively. Still, the pressure is on to get and finish chances.
"If he wants to stay in an offensive role, he has to," Tortorella said. "But we're (six) games into an 82-game schedule. I think we have to be a little more patient with him because he's done some pretty good things."
