Carpet cleaner eyes half-acre

TOWN 'N COUNTRY: T.L.C. Carpet Cleaning Inc. wants to operate its flooring materials business from an office warehouse on a half-acre off Benjamin Road. The Tampa company is seeking a rezoning that will allow manufacturing uses on the property north of Ann Ballard Road. A zoning judge is expected to hear about the plan at a Dec. 15 meeting, and commissioners are scheduled to vote on the petition Jan. 27. (Petition 04-0086)

CARROLLWOOD: The owner of 1.7 acres on Shaw Road wants to subdivide his property into three single-family lots. A 1,200-square-foot home now occupies the parcel north of Ehrlich Road. A petition is scheduled to be heard at the Dec. 15 zoning hearing. Commissioners are expected to vote on the request Jan. 27.

UPPER TAMPA BAY: Zoning judge John A. Crislip is recommending that county commissioners approve a rezoning that would allow a commercial development on 4.58 acres on Hillsborough Avenue, east of Race Track Road. New Era Network is proposing 7,000-square-foot and 4,000-square-foot restaurants, 13,500 square feet of office uses and 11,200 square feet of industrial uses. (Petition 03-0672)

LUTZ: Donald and Isabel Stone also won Crislip's endorsement of a plan to build 27 homes at the southeast corner of Indian Mound Road and Indian Head Drive. The 13.8-acre site is now zoned for one home per acre. (Petition 03-1239)

LAKE MAGDALENE: Crislip won't support a request to develop a 70,350-square-foot office park on the north side of Bearss Avenue, west of Lake Magdalene Boulevard. Crislip and zoning staff recommend the board deny approval of the petition because the development is not compatible with surrounding residential areas. (Petition 03-1244)
