DI CAIRANO, GERARD, 81, of Spring Hill, died Friday (Oct. 31, 2003) at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center, Spring Hill. Born in North Terrytown, N.Y., he came here in 1979 from Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. He was a retired mechanical foreman and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 8155 and 2188, American Legion Post 208, DAV, and Catholic War Veterans. Survivors include his wife, Marie; two sons, James, Inverness, and Michael, Spring Hill; a brother, Frank, Mahopac, N.Y.; a sister, Margaret Schrieber, Spring Hill; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. GUBBINS, GRACE E., 89, of Lecanto, formerly of Beverly Hills, died Thursday (Oct. 30, 2003) in Lecanto. Born in New York, she came here 20 years ago from Flushing, N.Y. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She loved crocheting and reading and was an avid bingo player. WASKEWICS-HAMPEL, CATHERINE, 87, of Hernando Beach, died Friday (Oct. 31, 2003) at home under the care of Hospice. Born in Hicksville, N.Y., she came here 16 years ago. She was a retired seamstress of 45 years, a "Scrabble Queen" and a Jerry Springer and Atlanta Braves fan. She enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, polka dancing, and cooking. She was a member of Ladies Reelers Fishing Club, champion bowler, and president of the Women's Volunteer Fire Department, Jericho, N.Y. Survivors include two sons, John, Las Vegas, and Paul Jr., Dana Point, Calif.; a daughter, Catherine, Hernando Beach; two sisters, Mary, Huntington Station, N.Y., and Ronnie, Tamarac; a brother, John, Hilton Head, S.C.; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
