Catch a little culture that goes pop

(ran PC edition)

In the doghouse with a paramour? Note this cost-free opportunity for brownie points. The Florida Orchestra's Pops in the Park concert series kicked off Sunday, with future performances expected in south, east and west parts of Tampa and at Lowry Park. Dates have yet to be announced. Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio created the series, which is sponsored by the city of Tampa, to showcase the cultural assets of the city and open up new artistic endeavors to its neighborhoods. "We must expand Tampa's arts and cultural experiences," Iorio said. "Through this series of orchestra concerts, citizens gain greater exposure to the arts in their neighborhoods." The concerts are also part of the orchestra's outreach and education activities for the current season. Call 286-2403.
