AROUND THE NFC

BEARS: Running back Anthony Thomas has three 100-yard efforts in his past four games. Rookie cornerback Charles Tillman had an interception for the second straight game.

CARDINALS: Counting the transplanted Oct. 27 game, Sunday's was the fourth game in eight days at Sun Devil Stadium.

COWBOYS: Quarterback Quincy Carter was 17-of-33 for 196 yards. Running back Adrian Murrell played for the first time since the 2000 finale.

EAGLES: They have won 21 of their past 28 road games and are 21-5 in November and December over the past four seasons.

FALCONS: Linebacker Keith Brooking played the entire game two weeks after sustaining several small fractures in his back. He made eight tackles.

49ERS: Cedrick Wilson's 95-yard touchdown return on the opening kickoff was the team's first TD on a kickoff since Terry Kirby did it Nov. 16, 1997.

GIANTS: Linebacker Brandon Short had a career-best 14 tackles, a sack, two forced fumbles and a recovery. Shaun Williams and Ralph Brown had interceptions.

LIONS: Quarterback Joey Harrington's 33-yard touchdown pass to Cory Schlesinger was his first of at least 20 yards since Oct. 5 at San Francisco. Otis Smith had his 29th career interception.

PANTHERS: Stephen Davis set a club season record with his sixth 100-yard rushing game. John Kasay has made all 18 field-goal attempts this season.

RAMS: Coach Mike Martz on running back Marshall Faulk, who's nursing two injuries: "If Marshall was fully ready to go, Marshall would tell me that. He hasn't told me that. We're not going to put him in harm's way. It's just not worth it."

REDSKINS: Running back Chad Morton joined Ladell Betts and Trung Canidate in sick bay, making Rock Cartwright the featured back. He had 44 yards on eight carries.

SAINTS: They lost two defensive starters in the first half, with linebacker Darrin Smith (hamstring) and cornerback Dale Carter (quadriceps) not returning.

SEAHAWKS: D.D. Lewis blocked a punt on Pittsburgh's opening series of the second half. It was Seattle's first blocked punt since Oct. 14, 2001. Free safety Damien Robinson started in place of rookie Ken Hamlin for the first time this season.

VIKINGS: Running back Michael Bennett had eight carries for 43 yards in his season debut after sitting out with a broken foot.
