Music into motion

Pinellas County musician Joran Oppelt is the P. Diddy of the Tampa Bay area music scene. The 27-year-old plays guitar in his jangly jam band, the Gita, has formed a record label (Mekka Records) and is the organizer of the Southeast Music Alliance, which helps bands network in the South.

Oppelt's most recent coup was masterminding the Southeast Music Conference in St. Petersburg last month. He also became a newlywed in September. (Is an Oppelt clothing line next?)

For now, Oppelt's focus is back on his own music, and a new band, Auditorium, in which he's toying around with electronica sounds.

Auditorium plays tonight with Four Star Riot, which puts on one heck of a live show, and R50.

The show begins 8:30 p.m. at Twilight, 1507 E Seventh Ave., Ybor City. $6.
