Spartans earn title a day late

One day later, Saddlebrook's region victory is official as it won a rain-delayed Class A, Region 3 tournament by 27 strokes over runner-up St. Augustine Nease.

Most of the field had not completed 18 holes when the tournament was called for darkness Tuesday.

The incomplete rounds did not impact which two teams advanced to next week's state championship nor the top two individual qualifiers, Nease's Brittany Nelson (75) and Ocala St. John's Lutheran's Paige Lausier (77).

Based on scores through 14 holes, Zephyrhills finished fourth among eight teams with a 328. It was led by Sarah Johnson, who shot 93 over 18 holes.

Citrus finished fifth with a 349, led by Kristen Klauder, who finished sixth individually with an 84 over 18 holes.

Among the individual qualifiers from district play, Hernando's Tara Allen tied for fourth overall with an 83. Nature Coast Tech's Mallory Freeman shot 94, and Crystal River's Andrea Adams shot 98.
