Jessica O'Shea, 13, of Spring Hill placed second in the 12- to 13-year-old girls division of the NFL Punt, Pass & Kick national finals Jan. 11 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The competition preceded an AFC divisional playoff game. O'Shea, an eighth grader at Notre Dame Interparochial School, qualified by winning her age group at the team championship Dec. 14 at Raymond James Stadium.
Twelve players from Spring Hill recently formed the West Coast Wildcats, a 12-under competitive travel team for AAU, IBC and USSSA tournaments. The team will play three tournaments the next four weeks: Outrageous Winter Meltdown, Saturday-Sunday in Orlando; IBC Florida Beaches Classic Tournament Jan. 31 in Clearwater; and Presidents Day Challenge Feb. 6-8 in Lakeland. Players are Brian Bradshaw, Bryan Bunnell, Danny Colon, Patrick Dwyer, G.T. Kinney, Jeff Lopez, Zach May, Mike Ogren, Bobby Pasarela, Nic Pasarela and Jonathan Russell. Coaches are Ed Bunnell, Jorg May, Brian Bradshaw and Bob Pasarela.
Paul Poland had a hole-in-one Jan. 8 at Sherman Hills Golf Course. He used an 8-iron on the par-3 13th hole and witnesses were Marcia Moore and Jack Richards.
