Chinese New Year banquet. As the Year of the Monkey, 4702 on the lunar calendar, begins, we can eat foods symbolizing gold (dumplings, carrots), long life (noodles) and abundance (whole fish), among others. Or just try Chinese again after so much Thai, sushi and Indian. If you watch the salt and fat, it's inexpensive and long on vegetables and rice, good for wealth and health. And if you can't lick colds and flu, hot and sour soup may be just what the herb doctor ordered.
