JAGR TO RANGERS?

The Rangers and Capitals have exchanged trade proposals involving Washington star Jaromir Jagr in recent weeks, the New York Daily News reported. The Caps want to unload Jagr's contract, which is due to pay him $45-million over the next four seasons. The Rangers want Washington to pick up as much of that as possible.

CRISP HONORED: Terry Crisp, who led the Calgary Flames to a Stanley Cup in 1989 and was the Lightning's first coach, will be one five men honored when the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame in Ontario holds its first induction ceremony Jan. 27. Former players Bill Carson and Gary Sabourin and local hockey personalities Barry "Hawk" Tabobondung and Alex Eagar also will be inducted.

BRUINS: Center Joe Thornton is scheduled for surgery today on his fractured left cheekbone and is expected to miss at least tonight's game.

PREDATORS: Center Rem Murray will be out indefinitely until doctors find the right medication to treat muscle cramps in his neck.

THRASHERS: Defenseman Chris Tamer went on the injured list with a sore back, and forward Kamil Piros was recalled from Chicago of the AHL.
