A bill introduced by state Rep. Charles Dean, R-Inverness, to permit instant bingo games at some venues unanimously passed the House Business and Regulation Committee on Wednesday. The bill was assigned to only one House committee, and a companion bill in the Senate already was passed by both committees to which it was assigned, so the bills are headed to the Senate and House floors. Dean said Thursday that the bills would allow instant bingo games at veterans' halls, not-for-profit organizations and bingo halls where bingo games are already conducted. "It's a good feeling. Everybody's excited," Dean said. "It's going to help the veterans' groups and the not-for-profit organizations raise funds."
