Anyone who has visited Branson, Mo., likely is familiar with the Hughes Brothers. This weekend, the five brothers are paying Hernando County a visit.
They will perform two shows Saturday at Mariner United Methodist Church, part of the 2003-04 season of the church's Community Performing Arts Guild.
As owners of the Celebrity Theatre in Branson, where they perform their popular and family-oriented show, the brothers sing and dance to country and western, Broadway and gospel favorites.
Since their arrival in Branson eight years ago, brothers Marty, Jason, Adam, Ryan and Andy have performed at Silver Dollar City and what is now the Legends Family Theatre, sharing the stage with the likes of the Osmond family and the Platters.
The five brothers, who range in age from 25 to 35, have served as missionaries for their church in parts of the world, including South America and Korea. They credit their missionary experiences for their ability to connect with audiences.
The Community Performing Arts Guild is dedicated to bringing affordable musical entertainment to Hernando County by hosting concerts in the 750-seat sanctuary at Mariner United Methodist Church, at 7079 Mariner Blvd. in Spring Hill.
Saturday's shows are at 3 and 7 p.m. Admission is free, but an offering will be taken. Ticket availability is limited. For tickets or information, call 544-1068, 596-6143 or 596-0080.
