Sketch of assault

suspect released

VALRICO _ The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office on Thursday released a composite sketch of the suspect in an attack on a 29-year-old Valrico woman.

The woman told deputies that she was leaving a 7-Eleven store at State Road 60 and Dover Road on Tuesday morning when the man opened her 1999 Chevrolet Prism's unlocked back door, jumped in and pressed something to her neck.

After the man told her to get out of the car and onto the ground, he punched her and kicked her, then ran away with her wallet.

A Sheriff's Office helicopter and canine unit searched the area but didn't find the suspect. Anyone who recognizes the man in the composite sketch or has information about the attack was asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.

Security guard shot

outside nightclub

TAMPA _ A security guard at a Tampa nightclub was shot early Thursday after he and another man ejected four customers from the place for fighting.

Tampa police said Albert Reed, 36, and Tyree L. Thomas, 25, were working security at Hollywood Nights, 3003 N Howard Ave., when four patrons started fighting near closing time.

They threw out the four men and watched them get into a car with darkly tinted windows. The car circled the business, then stopped near the two security men.

A window rolled down about 3 inches, a gun barrel poked out, and five to seven shots were fired, striking Reed in the hand and leg, police said. He was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he was reported in stable condition.

The two guards said the car was a late model Chevrolet four-door sedan, dark blue on top and lighter blue on the bottom, with shiny wheel rims.
