Early morning crash leaves one hurt, knocks out power

An 18-year-old woman was injured in a predawn crash that knocked out power to one home in Brooksville on Thursday, authorities said. The three-hour power outage was caused when the car, driven by Christina Griffin, struck a utility pole at the intersection of Jefferson Street and Orange Avenue about 1:39 a.m., said Robert Daniel of the Brooksville Fire Department. Griffin was flown to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, where her condition was unknown Thursday evening. No other injuries were reported. Authorities did not provide further details about the single-vehicle crash, but Florida Power spokesman Rick Janka confirmed that power was restored to the customer about 4:09 a.m.
