ALABAMA: Top scorer Earnest Shelton sprained a ligament in his right knee against Georgia and is doubtful for Saturday's game at Mississippi. Coach Mark Gottfried said it's unclear when the junior guard will be able to return.


GEORGIA ST. 66, JU 58: Nate Williams scored 12 to lead a balanced attack as the visiting Panthers (12-4, 7-2 Atlantic Sun) won their sixth straight. The Dolphins (6-10, 1-8) pulled within 58-53 with 2:20 left, but the Panthers converted two layups and Herman Favors made four consecutive free throws in the final 1:45.

STETSON 77, MERCER 68: E.J. Gordon and Anthony Register scored 18 each to lift the host Hatters (7-8, 5-4 A-Sun) to their fifth consecutive victory. Wesley Duke had 20 points and Bobby Hansen 17 for the Bears (7-11, 4-5).


UTAH: Coach Rick Majerus was cleared in a university investigation into a complaint by a former player who claimed the coach berated him about his partial hearing loss. Athletic director Chris Hill confirmed there was a university investigation, launched after a complaint by center Lance Allred after the 2001-02 season.
