LaTonya Blue's layup with .2 seconds left in overtime capped a comeback from a 22-point deficit as Virginia beat Florida State 82-80 Friday night.
A day after FSU's men rallied from 24 down to upset North Carolina in overtime, the Seminole women blew a 28-6 first-half lead. The Cavaliers took their first lead on Blue's winning shot.
"This was one of the most devastating losses that I can remember in my coaching career," Seminoles coach Sue Semrau said. "You've got to credit Virginia, their heart and hustle and believing they could win. I was surprised we jumped out to a 28-6 lead, but there's no excuse. I thought we got complacent."
Virginia's Anna Crosswhite tied it at 70 with 34 seconds left to force overtime.
Kate Kreager led the Cavaliers (9-8, 3-3 ACC) with a career-high 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Blue had 12 points, nine assists and nine rebounds.
Shante Williams led the Seminoles (10-8, 3-4) with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Tasheika Allen scored 15 and Lauren Bradley 12.
UCF 74, TROY ST. 72: Dexter Lyons scored 24 and Robert Morentin 19 to lead the visiting Golden Knights (15-2, 10-0 Atlantic Sun). Lyons was 8-of-16 from the field and 4-of-11 from 3-point range. His free throw with 17 seconds left sealed the win after the Trojans (11-5, 7-2) got within one.
