Orien Greene scored 17 in his return to the Sunshine State and led Louisiana-Lafayette to a 78-58 victory over Florida International on Saturday.
Greene, a Gainesville native who spent two seasons at Florida, also had eight rebounds, four assists and four steals off the bench. It was his first game in the state since transferring from Florida in 2002.
The 6-foot-4 guard sat out the 2002-03 season and had to watch from the sideline during the fall semester of this season under NCAA transfer rules. He has played the past three games, and the Ragin' Cajuns (9-5, 4-1 Sun Belt) are undefeated with Greene on the floor.
Considered a top recruit, Greene was largely a disappointment with the Gators. He struggled in the classroom and on the court. He started 30 of 31 games in 2002-03, averaging 5.2 points and 2.8 rebounds.
Greene was 6-of-8 shooting from the floor, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range. Teammates Brian Hamilton and Chris Cameron scored 11 apiece.
Carlos Morban had 15 points to pace FIU, which has lost seven in a row.
ROLLINS 81, NOVA S.E. 75: The host Tars outscored the Knights 49-37 in the second half after being down 38-32 at the break.
Junior forward Chad Dircks led the Tars with 22 points, including six 3-pointers, and nine rebounds.
