LOOKING BACK

He didn't exactly get a kick out of it

Super Bowl I was televised by both CBS and NBC, and CBS's Pat Summerall served as a sideline reporter for both networks. NBC missed the second-half kickoff because it was in a commercial break, so the producer asked Summerall to ask Packers coach Vince Lombardi if he would kick off again. For some reason, Summerall declined.

Patriots coach, desperately trying to play up the Panthers

SITE OF THE DAY

patsfans.com: These fans take their Patriots seriously, as can be witnessed by the "Salary Cap Info" link. While titled as "Very Unofficial," it sure seems comprehensive _ for every player, you can find when their contract is up, how much they're due to make each year and what the salary-cap hit would be if they were cut before or after June 1. For instance, if the Patriots were to cut ex-Bucs draft pick Marquise Walker, recently signed to a 2004 free-agent contract, it would cost them a whopping $5,600 against the cap, the NFL equivalent of us losing change in couch cushions.

ANSWER

$6-12, and the attendance was 61,946, meaning there were almost 40,000 empty seats in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

Go to see Paris Hilton, above, or Jimmy Kimmel? Decisions, decisions.
