Italian American Club installs officers

Joseph V. Scolari Jr. was recently installed as president of the Italian American Club of Greater Clearwater.

Other officers installed at the annual banquet meeting include Ben Mercadante, vice president; Joan Giannotti, recording secretary; Dan D'Emidio, financial secretary; Madeline Wilhelm, treasurer; and Joy Antonelli, corresponding secretary; two-year board members Low Nazzaro, Sylvia Nelson and Dolores Trapani; and one-year board members, Frank Balcastro, Rosemarie Decuzzie, Bruno Ciccotelli and Anthony Pisano.

Woman's Club member Volunteer of the Year

Clearwater Community Woman's Club recently recognized Ann Crum as 2003 CCWC Volunteer of the Year. She serves the club as projects chair and will be the chair for the 2004 Daisy Award Fashion Show, a fundraiser planned for March. She sews baby hospital gowns, arranges stage decorations for fundraisers and makes signs for club use.

She also volunteers for the public library system, the Watson Center, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliaries, the Retired Educators of North Pinellas and the American Legion. A retired educator, she continues to teach her favorite subject, patriotism, by presenting patriotic education programs on the flag to school classes, adult groups and libraries. install officers

Clearwater Masonic Lodge 127 F&AM recently installed the following elected officers: Joseph W. Duhamel, master; Mark Birenbaum, senior warden; Vern A. Von Werder, junior warden; David W. Griffin, treasurer; Edward C. Advance, secretary; and the following appointed officers, Donald J. Banks, chaplain; Jeffrey V. Cofone, marshall; Russell D. Summers, senior deacon; William D. Sinko, junior deacon; Derek D. Schrall, senior steward; Gerald D. Bennett, junior steward; Russell P. LeMar, tyler; Arthur Barker, officer at large; and Mark LeMacher, organist.

Serving as installing officer was Sam Lampson, 20th District deputy grand master, assisted by Joseph Sipos, installing chaplain, and Steiner Hjmerick, installing marshall.

At another recent program, the lodge presented their Mason of the Year award to both Arthur H. Barker and James W. Eubanks. The special program was presented by outgoing master Frank Vererame, who in turn received a plaque for outstanding leadership by the district deputy grand master.

The following seven members were raised to the 3rd degree of Master Mason: Donald J. Banks, Gerald D. Bennett, Jeffrey V. Cofone, Russell P. LeMar, Derek D. Schrall, Michael P. Snider and Russell D. Summers.

The group meets every second and fourth Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. and holds a breakfast meeting every Saturday morning from 7 to 10 a.m. at the lodge, 705 S Hercules Ave., Clearwater. For information, call (727) 447-5161.

Junior Woman's Club awards presented

Members of the GFWC Clearwater Junior Woman's Club celebrated recently at their awards and installation banquet, when the following members were honored: Shannon Boylan, junior of the year; Alecia Janczak, new member of the year; Deborah Stitt, president's award; Barbara Hajko, junior love; Diane Luttmann, the Claudia Allen leadership award; Bill Hajko, the Joseph S. Clark award; and Laurie Auth, Sandy Incorvia, Marilyn Kagan, Donna Watts, Carolyn Waidley, Jeanette Robson, Susan Petersen, Jeanne Stephenson, Liz Shurbuk, Alana MacBain and Julie Yeager, spirit awards.

Service recognition awards included Marilyn Kagan, Nadine Nickeson and Val Stephens, five years, and Janis LeMaster and Kim Ferrara, 10 years.

The following board officers were installed: Marie Padavich, president; Diane Luttmann, president elect; Barbara Hajko, first vice president; Nadine Nickeson, second vice president; Randi Canfield, third vice president; Donna Watts, secretary; Donna Springer, treasurer; and Shannon Boylan, member at large.
