Girl says parents' guest molested her

A Homosassa man was arrested on charges of sexually molesting a 7-year-old girl while she slept in her bed.

Michael Andrew Spinney, 53, 7989 W Cyprian Court, Homosassa, was arrested after the girl told her parents about the incident. According to the arrest report, Spinney was intoxicated and passed out on the bed after molesting the girl.

Spinney had been visiting the girl's parents at their home off Grover Cleveland Boulevard on Sunday when he said he was going to the restroom around 2 a.m. Instead, the arrest report states, he went into the girl's room where he sexually molested her.

The girl told her parents what had happened after Spinney passed out. He was interviewed by detective Lisa Wall of the Citrus County Sherriff's Office and said he was too intoxicated to remember what happened.

Spinney is being held at the Citrus County jail without bail.

+ David Lee O'Brien, 28, 4151 S Centennial Ave., Homosassa, was arrested on a charge of battery and is accused of biting a man's thumb and knocking out two of his teeth during a fight.

According to arrest reports, O'Brien was involved in a fight with a woman at a Crystal River residence on NE 10th Street on Saturday night, when another person intervened. O'Brien turned on him, biting his thumb and knocking out two teeth with a punch.

O'Brien remained in jail Sunday and his bail was $1,000.

+ A woman who was a passenger in a car during a traffic stop Saturday was charged with felony drug possession after Xanax and hydrocodone were found in a bottle in her purse.

Angelia Kay Naves, 46,, 6401 Sunnyside Drive, Leesburg, was arrested on charges of possession of controlled substance after deputies found a vitamin bottle with five hydrocodone and 12 Xanax pills.

She was relased from the Citrus County jail after posting a $10,000 bail.
