Victim of dog bite may have to get rabies inoculation

A woman was bitten by a dog Jan. 20 on S Withlapopka Drive, according to the Department of Public Safety, Animal Control.

The animal is described as a dark reddish or tan dog with a shaggy tail. If the dog is not located by Friday, rabies vaccinations will have to be administered to the victim.

If you have any information regarding this dog, call Citrus County Animal Control between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 726-7660; after hours, call 746-2555 or 726-1121.

Dog trainers agree that walkers should carry a walking stick as a precaution and loudly hit the stick on the ground to scare approaching dogs. Healthy animals are frightened by the sound and should retreat.
