Hilltop tunes at Floral City Park

A free concert at Floral City Park on Saturday will feature a local lineup of country, gospel and cajun performers.

The musicians will perform at Pavilion 2, which sits on a hill and is shaded by large oak trees. Hours are 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is free and spectators should bring chairs or blankets. Sodas and food will be sold, but people can also bring their own food in a cooler if they wish.

Among the performers will be:

+ Cajun Dave (David Becnel), a multi-instrumentalist on guitar, fiddle, accordion, mandolin and scrub board, plays New Orleans-style music. He has played at many venues along Bourbon Street and in the French Quarter in New Orleans.

+ Kayla Baugh, an Ocala singer featured in voice-overs for dozens of radio and television commercials. Baugh currently appears at the Ritz Historic Inn's Magnolia Lounge in Ocala on Wednesday nights.

+ The Sun Coasters, a three-piece band that plays music from the 1950s and 1960s.

+ Gospel Impressions, a gospel group that has performed at Curtis Peterson Auditorium and area churches, retirement homes and senior centers.

Other performers include Larry Hogan, Paul Conger, Bebe Graham, Ulysses Graham, Larry Hogan, David Max and John Paul Wills.

The concert is held in partnership with the county parks and recreation office.

"They provide the music and we provide the venue and children's games," said Francine Nobles, recreation aide.

Admission is free. For more information, call the county parks and recreation office at 527-7677.
