Krista Abram, 16, a junior at Tarpon Springs High School, was suspended for passing a petition seeking to ban the Confederate flag from student clothing and personal items. Krista moved from Pittsburgh last fall and has been stunned at how prominently and casually students display the Confederate flag. She acknowledges she did not go through the proper channels to circulate the petition, but she and her mom think a 10-day suspension is over the top.
