A semi-perilous situation

As Gene Schaible drove a load of new furniture Friday across the Deception Pass bridge near Anacortes, Wash., a gust of wind pushed his semitrailer truck into oncoming traffic and nearly off the side of the bridge. Schaible, who was not hurt, told KOMO-TV that he grabbed his wallet and climbed up to the passenger door. The wind, blowing 50 to 55 mph, made opening the door difficult, and Schaible said he was afraid the truck would plunge the 185 feet to the water below.
