Blaze destroys mobile home; one firefighter injured

A fire destroyed a Hernando family's mobile home Friday morning and injured one firefighter. The firefighter was treated and released by Citrus Memorial Hospital, according to Citrus County fire rescue spokesman Craig Stevens. No residents of the mobile home were injured, including homeowner Joe Gaines and his 19-year-old daughter, Crystal, who were the only two people home at the time of the blaze. The fire started at 11:26 a.m. at the home, 4149 E Shorewood Drive. Firefighters and equipment from Hernando, Citrus Springs, Beverly Hills, Inverness and Connell Heights fought the blaze. Though the cause of the fire is undetermined, it will not be investigated by county or state officials because it is not suspicious, Stevens said.
