AT STAKE: The top two from each district advance to the region tournament. The district champion gets homefield advantage in the first round.
Class 5A, District 9
WHERE: Palm Harbor University.
TEAMS: Palm Harbor, Clearwater, Countryside, East Lake, Dunedin and Largo.
SCHEDULE: Monday _ East Lake vs. Dunedin 6; Clearwater vs. Largo. Wednesday _ Countryside vs. Clearwater/Largo winner 6; Palm Harbor vs. East Lake/Dunedin winner 8. Friday _ Final 7.
OUTLOOK: It may look like it's anybody's tournament, but PHU is the favorite. A Monday rematch between Dunedin and East Lake would be compelling without this season's events. In last year's district tournament, the Eagles knocked out the Falcons in overtime. And less than a month ago, a brawl broke out between the teams, resulting in four red-card suspensions, the most severe going to Dunedin defender Bobby Degen, who got six weeks.
Class 5A, District 10
WHERE: Boca Ciega.
TEAMS: Seminole, St. Petersburg, Pinellas Park, Northeast, Dixie Hollins, Boca Ciega and Gibbs.
SCHEDULE: Monday _ Dixie Hollins vs. Northeast 4; Boca Ciega vs. Pinellas Park 6; Gibbs vs. St. Petersburg 8. Wednesday _ Boca Ciega/Pinellas Park winner vs. St. Petersburg/Gibbs winner 6; Dixie Hollins/Northeast winner vs. Seminole 8. Friday _ Final 7.
OUTLOOK: Seminole, the PCAC champion, is showing few weaknesses. The Warhawks have a likely matchup with Northeast on Wednesday. The Vikings may have lost to Seminole twice, but Northeast was up 2-0 early before losing in the Hurricane Watch Tournament. Then there's a probable Pinellas Park-St. Petersburg semifinal. The Green Devils have to stay focused to advance against a dangerous Patriots team which is eager to prove its worth.
Class 4A, District 10
WHERE: Wesley Chapel.
TEAMS: Ridgewood, Wesley Chapel, Hudson, Tarpon Springs, Gulf and Zephyrhills.
SCHEDULE: Monday _ Tarpon Springs vs. Gulf 6; Hudson vs. Zephyrhills 8. Wednesday _ Ridgewood vs. Tarpon/Gulf winner 6; Wesley Chapel vs. Hudson/Zephyrhills winner 8. Friday _ Final 7.
OUTLOOK: If Tarpon Springs advances, beating Ridgewood would be a coup. Although Hudson proved it could be done, winning 5-0, the Rams have toppled some of the best in Pinellas County in Countryside and Palm Harbor. If Ridgewood is on its game, it should win.
Class 4A, District 13
TEAMS: Palmetto, Osceola, Lakewood, Southeast and Bayshore.
SCHEDULE: Monday _ Southeast vs. Bayshore 6. Wednesday _ Southeast/Bayshore winner vs. Palmetto 6; Lakewood vs. Osceola 8. Friday _ Final 7.
OUTLOOK: With a first-round bye, Lakewood can put all its energy into playing Osceola. The Warriors have the edge in the season series, 1-0-1. Palmetto has been ranked second in the state much of the season, but the team lost one of its best players a few weeks ago and is slightly vulnerable. Still, Palmetto should at least make it into regions.
Class 3A, District 9
TEAMS: Jesuit, Cardinal Mooney, Clearwater Central Catholic, St. Petersburg Catholic, Tampa Catholic and Robinson.
SCHEDULE: Monday _ SPC vs Tampa Catholic 6; CCC vs. Robinson 8. Wednesday _ SPC/Tampa Catholic winner vs. Cardinal Mooney 6; CCC/Robinson vs. Jesuit 8. Friday _ Final 7:30.
OUTLOOK: CCC coach Jim Harte knew a No. 3 seed probably would mean having to play Jesuit, No. 2 in the state. The Marauders' 8-10-4 record might not look pretty, but Harte can hope playing some of the toughest teams in the state has prepared them. SPC has fast, aggressive attack style that makes it a threat.
Class 2A, District 8
TEAMS: Berkeley, Tampa Prep, Shorecrest, Admiral Farragut, Northside Christian, Cambridge, Indian Rocks Christian and Keswick.
SCHEDULE: Monday _ Tampa Prep vs. Indian Rocks 5; Berkeley vs. Keswick 7. Tuesday _ Admiral Farragut vs. Northside 5; Shorecrest vs. Cambridge 7. Thursday _ Shorecrest/Cambridge winner vs. Tampa Prep/Indian Rocks winner 5; Berkeley/Keswick winner vs. Admiral Farragut/Northside winner 7. Friday _ Final 7.
OUTLOOK: Shorecrest likely will get another chance at Tampa Prep, which beat the Chargers twice this season. Shorecrest will have to be sharp to defeat the Terrapins, in the top 10 in two state polls. Berkeley Prep is ranked No. 1 in the state and could sweep through the tournament.
