Two out of three

The Patriots became only the seventh franchise to win at least two Super Bowls in a three-year span:

PACKERS: I (35-10 over Chiefs) and II (33-14 over Raiders)

DOLPHINS: VII (14-7 over Redskins) and VIII (24-7 over Vikings)

STEELERS: IX (16-6 over Vikings) and X (21-17 over Cowboys)

STEELERS: XIII (35-31 over Cowboys) and XIV (31-19 over Rams)

49ERS: XXIII (20-16 over Bengals) and XXIV (55-10 over Broncos)

COWBOYS: XXVII (52-17 over Bills), XXVIII (30-13 over Bills) and XXX (27-17 over Steelers)

BRONCOS: XXXII (31-24 over Packers) and XXXIII (34-19 over Falcons)

PATRIOTS: XXXVI (20-17 over Rams) and XXXVIII (32-29 over Panthers)

AFC vs. NFC

Remember when the NFC dominated the Super Bowl, winning every one from XIX to XXXI? Now it's the AFC's turn. While not as dominant, it now has won five of the past seven:

XXXII: Broncos 31, Packers 24

XXXIII: Broncos 34, Falcons 19

XXXIV: Rams 23, Titans 16

XXXV: Ravens 34, Giants 7

XXXVI: Patriots 20, Rams 17

XXXVII: Bucs 48, Raiders 21

XXXVIII: Patriots 32, Panthers 29

Almost pointless

At the start of Super Bowl XXXVIII, it looked as though it could have been the lowest scoring game. But the Patriots and Panthers offenses came to life and kept them from this list of lowest combined points in the Super Bowl:

21: VII, Dolphins 14, Redskins 7

22: IX, Steelers 16, Vikings 6

23: III, Jets 16, Colts 7

27: VI, Cowboys 24, Dolphins 3

29: V, Colts 16, Cowboys 13

30: IV, Chiefs 23, Vikings 7

31: VIII, Dolphins 24, Vikings 7

36: XXIII, 49ers 20, Bengals 16

37: XII, Cowboys 27, Broncos 10

37: XV, Raiders, 27, Eagles 10

37: XXXVI, Patriots 20, Rams 17
