J.D. Power releases builder rankings

Published Aug. 28, 2005

DiVosta Homes ranked first in customer satisfaction among Tampa Bay area builders, according to the 2004 J.D. Power and Associates New-Home Builder Customer Satisfaction Study released this week.

The study ranked builders in Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas and Sarasota counties on nine factors: builder's customer service, home readiness, builder's sales staff, quality of workmanship and materials, price/value, physical design elements, design center, recreational facilities and location. Power rates new-home builders in 25 U.S. markets.

DiVosta, based in Palm Beach Gardens, builds exclusively in Florida and is active in Sarasota County, though not in the rest of the Tampa Bay area. Spokesman Mike Brown said the company has acquired property at Wiregrass Ranch in Pasco and hopes to develop it next year.

DiVosta earned 139 points out of a possible 160, followed by two national builders: Pulte, which is DiVosta's corporate parent, and Kimball Hill Homes.

To be included in the study, builders had to close a minimum of 150 homes in the market in 2003. The Tampa Bay area rankings are based on responses from 2,642 buyers who lived in their new homes from four to 18 months on average. For details, visit the Web site:
